Green Turtles are a species that has a large distribution but are also on the conservation list for being over hunted over the centuries. According to Wikipedia, they are separated into two groups: Indio-Pacific and Atlantic. In the former group, they can be found in the Indian Ocean near Africa, near Japan all the way down to New Zealand, and near Hawaii, Mexico and Chile. In the Atlantic, they are found in the Caribbean and South Atlantic. They hatch on beaches and will spend the rest of their lives swimming in the water.
Over the centuries, humans have used turtles for human use. Turtles are used to make handbags, food [such as soup] and decorations. They are now on the protected list in many countries due to over harvesting of their numbers. In some places, such as Hawaii, the numbers have rebounded.
